What are we trying to solve?

Combining all promotion types and streamlining the experience for managing, choosing and setting up promotions


What did we do?

Rate channels (A form of promotions) is combined with other promotions types and now form the 3 broad promotion types that Agoda offers.

Solutioning

Not everything identified was solvable by design hence the final results was a combination of design + tech changes. I’m going to highlight some of the areas that design helped with.


Success and outcome

  • All promotion types are now able to be deactivated without causing significant harm to the business.

  • All promotion types are labeled and housed together in the same user flow

  • Partners now have better clarity about total stacking discounts they are offering

  • Promotion funnels is now responsive to suit other use cases like home owners who regularly manages/sets them up via mobile


Reflections

It was very fulfilling and challenging working on a new domain area. Some areas i think that had more area for growth and improvement

  • Introducing a UI framework for multiple teams to collaborate without relying solely on the designer.

  • Condensing ideas and findings into more digestible formats to reduce the resources needed for fixes.
